IVF
It is a whole of reproductive assisting techniques that involve combining the egg and sperm cells in laboratory conditions, creating embryos, developing and transferring them to the mother's uterus.
What is infertility?
Infertility can be defined as couples that have regular sexual intercourse for at least 1 year but can’t get any result on pregnancy. In average, one of six families is affected by infertility. Pregnancy is expected 85% in couples that have sexual intercourse in the first year and 93% in the second year. If a pregnancy does not occur at the end of these periods, an infertility center should be contacted.
What are the causes of infertility?
While some of the causes of infertility have easy solutions, some of them are difficult to solve. Up to 40% of infertile couples suffer from male-induced infertility problems so due to this problem male evaluation is very important. The most common male infertility causes are the absence of any sperm cells in the semen (azoospermia) or inadequate sperm counts and movements (oligoastenospermia). Sometimes, sperm cells are deformed or sperm dies before they reach the egg cell. Rarely, genetic causes and chromosomal abnormalities cause male infertility. In general, it is possible to evaluate male infertility in two main groups. The first of these is due to sexual dysfunction, and the second is due to sperm production disorders. It is seen that in the cases like varicocele, infections, underdeveloped or undescended testis, malformations, systemic disorders, immunological causes, tumors and duct obstructions affects male sperm production and leads to infertility
